Medical services and the Construction of Mary Help Hospital
Medical service is provided through outreach activities, clinical placement of the students in Avil Civil Hospital, Wau teaching Hospital, Comboni Hospital, military Hospital, and Primary Health care centres.
Mary Help Hospital’s foundation was laid on August 2013. It is currently on its 2nd stage of construction.
It will have an initial bed capacity of 150 with future plans of expansion to 500 beds.
It will be a mother and child friendly hospital, providing maternal and child services, out-patient services, and emergency services for both men and women.
Mary Help Association has been actively involved in nutrition programming throughout Wau and Jur-River counties of Western Bhar El Ghazal state since 2005,in collaboration with the Catholic Diocese of Wau..
The association has distributed nutritious food to an estimate of around 20,000 people per month in partnership with Dorcas international , Miserior and WFP.
In addition to this, the association provides antenatal care to expectant mothers, Health education to the community, immunization to children, curative services and referrals.
In a bid to establish a self- reliant community, Mary Help Association is currently setting up an agricultural center that will help the community acquire modern skills in cattle keeping, fishery, piggery, poultry and cultivation of crops and vegetables.
Currently the association is training and helping 250 households to cultivate a variety of crops serving as a pilot project.
Primary and Secondary education, Teacher training college, women’s educational programmes are core to the heart of Mary Help Association. In western Bahr Al Gazal the association has started with an informal small village school in Nyanpath village where the children do not have any school facility in 7 kilometres distance. Soon will begin the construction of a primary school, secondary school and teacher training college.
